Sure, that’s a dubious award, at best. It’s like holding a prettiest turd competition: no-one comes away unscathed.
So congratulations, Gibbsy. Enjoy the accolade of being disliked slightly less than the most unpopular president in recorded history (at this stage of his presidency).
Just keep on telling yourself: the glass is half-full, it’s half-full, half-full…
Yeah, I know, if I tried to fill my blog with nothing but instances of bare-faced lies then there’d be no time for eating, sleeping or any other of life’s essential little activities.
But watch as Robert Gibbs strenuously maintains that Barry is not going to raise taxes on the middle class.
This is good stuff -- Gibbs is normally far more evasive than this. Maybe, just maybe, he’s learned something from being openly mocked and having journalists delight in tormenting him, and is attempting to be a little more sincere in his answers.
Not that it’s going to help him.
Because when Barry surrenders to his burning desire to punish the middle class for their success and independence, conservatives are going to have a field day with footage like this.
By the way, if Barry doesn’t raise taxes on the coping classes (which, by my calculations, has about a 0.000748 percent chance of happening) then I’ll go to the nearest public toilet and lick the floor clean.
After writing about Helen Thomas (which has not left me unaffected, readers) in a less than complimentary manner last week, she now goes and does something not entirely brainless for the first time in living memory.
Alongside Chip Reid, she double-teams Robert Gibbs over the administration’s habit of fixing supposedly spontaneous townhall meetings.
Watch Gibbs squirm -- this is a man who, very soon, will face nothing but enemies at the daily White House press briefings. His behavior is puerile and condescending, his “answers” are openly contemptuous of the reporters there and his denial of that which everyone else in the room recognizes is ludicrous -- Obama doesn’t stuff public meetings with supporters and prepared questions, so how dare you suggest it!
Oh yeah, anticipation makes the harder they fall worth two in the bush.
Or something like that.
Robert Gibbs’ verbal acrobatics are becoming increasingly unbelievable (much like the Chinese Olympic gymnasts), not that they had an abundance of credibility to begin with. Watch the vid and smile at the warm feeling of vindication that results from seeing (hearing?) the press corp laugh openly at Gibb’s ridiculousness.
This is happening early. It bodes about as well for the Obama administration as North Korean volatility does for world peace.
Still, it’s a pretty scant consolation for us. Bobby, Barry n’ Bidey might not like being the target of ridicule, but they still get to implement their socialist takeover.
