In a successful bid to diversify the litany of criminal charges filed against him, Marion Barry was this weekend arrested and charged with misdemeanor stalking (which compliments his standard drugs and corruption routine quite nicely).
The unfortunate object of his unrequited lust was a woman in Anacostia Park, who flagged down a Park Police officer to arrest the criminal-cum-politician.
I guess it’s understandable in a way – it was 4 July, and how is Barry supposed to enjoy himself when denied the pleasures of crack cocaine/prostitutes/tax evasion? Stalking some random woman is clearly the next step in that sequence.
Not that I’m wishing for an imminent demise, but I hope to God that Barry will donate his body to science when (if, given his luck?) the time comes. Think of all the medical breakthroughs that would be made.
Through life-long practise and dedication, he’s become (kinda) immune to drugs, STDs and the law. Barry, you hold more answers than even you know.

This is just downright confusing.
Politics, to me, is like a Venn diagram. Except that the two circles don’t touch, much less overlap. So I guess it’s more accurate to say that politics is like two circles that are nowhere near each other.
Er, anyway.
Marion Barry being… honest?
Then again, if I’d done as much crack as him, I wouldn’t know if I was thinking or speaking or even just awake. He’s probably not that sure, either.
Someone please answer me this: neither the Democrats nor the Republicans support gay marriage. Neither (rightly) seeks to introduce new laws, or reinstitute old ones, against homosexuals.
So why are Republicans still castigated as homophobes?
Whereas Marion Barry is allowed to oppose gay marriage, as he’s reflecting the demands of his constituents. And, as a Democrat, he obviously opposes it in a softer and more gentle way than Republicans do.

Not paying their own taxes is the flipside of the coin to the Democrats’ fixation with raising other people’s taxes.
Enter Marion Barry. This is about as surprising as waking up in the morning but let’s not give him a pass simply because it’s the thousandth time he’s done it.
Dear old Marion owes more than $277,000 in back taxes. Sucks to be him.
Reckon he’ll pay it back? Answers on a postcard, please.

Marion Barry, what is there left to say?
The man with more (political) lives than a cat. Good to know that yet another slice of the electorate clearly uses its brain when selecting its representatives.
