Some people search for the Holy Grail.  Some try to figure out an equation that will predict movement on Wall Street.  Some attempt to comprehend how one small action puts into motion a long chain of unintended consequences.

Me?

I’d like to be privy to the super secret Democratic scandal rotation agenda.  I swear, they must have a schedule worked out so that the same scandal is not focused upon for more than a day at a time.  How collectivist of them to all take turns in sharing the blame.

One day it’s Nancy Pelosi and her vast foreknowledge of enhanced interrogation.  The next day it’s Air Force One scaring the bejeezus out of residents of lower Manhattan.  Then it’s back to John Murtha again.

This guy is so corrupt that I’m amazed he doesn’t have a necrotic effect on all those around him.  Seriously.

He’s making all the wrong headlines again because his fellow enforcers in the Democratic Party have killed yet another attempt to hold him to account.  There have been eight such moves in the last three months to investigate Murtha’s shady dealings: the socialists have vetoed them all.

Enjoy the impunity while it lasts, Murtha.

Jeez.

I’m getting a twinge of guilt writing this post and I don’t like it.  For mine is a righteous quest.

Not because I feel bad for posting about Murtha’s overt corruption, you understand – no problem there – but because one really shouldn’t mock senile seniors.

Just take a look at this pic and try telling me that he’s not one sandwich short of a picnic.

The Incredible Sulk could not be more blatant is his abuse of office to enrich others and secure his own perpetual reelection (and, in this, he is far from alone).

But he takes it just a little further than the rest.

His nephew, Robert C. Murtha Jr., runs a company named Murtech.  Last year, Murtech received $4 million in Pentagon work, all of which, purely by coincidence no doubt, was awarded without competition.  Murtech also has links to the PMA Group, a Washington defense lobbying firm founded by one of Murtha’s former senior staffers.  Surprise!

But where are all the two-headed, five-legged, hermaphrodite mockeries of human life? Politics is so incestuous that they can’t be far away.

See, that was President Nixon’s first mistake.

Hmm, let me take that back.  His first mistake was allowing amazingly illegal things to be done by those under him, and for his own benefit, but you catch my drift.  Asserting your innocence by beginning with a negative is not the best way of doing it.

Far better to say “I am innocent.”  You then at least have a shot at gaining some undeserved public sympathy.

Murtha, however,  has reached the appropriate age and level of hubris that he just doesn’t care any more.

So he’s as bent as a nine bob note (as some people say in the UK) admitting that, “If I’m corrupt, it’s because I take care of my district.”

What he’s really saying is, “Whaddaya gonna do about it?”

And the answer is most likely nothing.  Not only has his mountainous ass fused itself to his House seat, but he enjoys the full support of his fellow racketeers in the Democratic Party.

Enjoy it will it lasts, Murtha.  You’ll get yours eventually.

Rep. John Murtha perpetually looks like he’s about to cry.

As well he might.  He’s in deep do-do over his proximity to PMA Group.

By which I mean that he gorges PMA Group’s clients on earmarks and they stuff his campaign with contributions, like some kind of frenzied fatty-feeding-fest.

Even The New York Times has called on Speaker Pelosi to support an ethics inquiry into Murtha and PMA Group.  When you’re so overtly damaged that the NYT is calling for your scalp, then surely the game is up.

But not if your name’s John Murtha.

Rather than lie low and weather the storm, Murtha has embarked upon the opposite strategy and doubled down.

He’s requested $134 million in earmarks (pah, who deals in millions anymore?  They’re soooo last year) for PA this year, which includes large sums for PMA Group clients.

King Louis XIV of France had solid silver furniture at the magnificent Palace of Versailles.  He was only forced to melt and sell it to pay wartime expenditures.

Whereas Murtha and the rest are still sitting pretty on our money.

Trying to understand this is making my brain hurt, but the NYT has done something not loathsome for once.

Far from it, in fact.

They have admonished Speaker Pelosi, clearly and unequivocally, for refusing to push for an ethics inquiry into the PMA Group.

While glad that the NYT has shown itself to be capable of slightly more objectivity than, say, trade unions, this is also dislodging my carefully constructed political outlook.

It goes like this: socialists and supporters = bad; conservatives and supporters = good.

And to think some people accuse me of not thinking through the issues deeply enough.

Former Navy Secretary Donald Winter bestowed on John Murtha the Navy’s Distinguished Public Service Award, the service’s highest civilian honor.

He has indubitably done his part to promote the military: having denounced US Marines as guilty of “cold-blooded murder and war crimes” at the Haditha incident, he has ever since refused to apologize despite the subsequent exoneration of all but one of the accused Marines (and that only because his trial has been postponed).

It’s not that surprising – seeing as the Democratic Party has only three members who were ever in the military, it was only a matter of time before they started to award themselves with military honors to compensate.

And judging by the photo above, you could probably tell Rep. Murtha anything about himself and he’d believe you.

Someone’s been a naughty boy.  Let me see if I have this straight:

PMA Group – a prominent Washington defense lobbying firm founded by one of Murtha’s former senior staffers – and its clients are consistently among Murtha’s top contributors.

Surprise, surprise, PMA’s clients have in turn benefited handsomely from earmarks obtained by Murtha, according to CREW.  The cycle begins anew as these clients recommence their donations to Murtha campaigns. 

Turns out it’s not that complicated after all.  Particularly not when there’s an earlier example to go by, too.
