Visiting Brussels lifts the spirits of every visiting member of the Third International (and I say this as someone who worked there for a number of years).
See the glorious vision of a (European) Parliament comprising only socialists!
Marvel at the mindless Left-voting hordes of “world citizens”!
Wonder at how life in Europe, slowly but surely, is being made subservient to the demands of the climate!
And, with a tear of joy rolling down your cheek, bear witness to the destruction of individual freedom, self-reliance and entrepreneurialism!

Sec. of State Clinton is proposing a high-level meeting on Afghanistan.
Judging by some of her earlier remarks, she may need to learn some more diplo-speak.
Here is how a conversation with Hamid Karzai goes in diplo-world:
Hill: We’re awfully concerned about the situation in Afghanistan.
Ham: No need to be, society here is peaceful and harmonious.
Hill: Wonderful news, just what I was hoping to hear.
Ham: Yes, and our relations with Pakistan have never been better.
Hill: Just great. Sweetness and light rules all.
Ham: Indeed. How about a nice game of buzkashi?

Particularly for the head US diplomat. Straight talking supreme from the Hilldog.
First, with China. Y’know what, let’s just forget about the whole human rights thing for once – nothing new will be said, yadda, yadda. Next time, ok?
Then with Iran. Eh, not much we can do to prevent them from acquiring nuclear weapons after all. Whatta ya gonna do?
I admire her (slightly) for acknowledging the emerging realities, but maybe a little more tact wouldn’t go amiss.

If you’d like to see just how easy it is to lose all dignity and still keep right on goin’.
Traveling to China and pleading with them to please, please, please keep on buying up all our debt is not exactly behavior befitting of the world’s sole superpower (yes, despite what you hear from self-loathing Americans elsewhere, the US is still far and away the focus of the unipolar world).
Although Secretary Clinton is in a tight spot. We do need to maintain foreign investment in the US economy. But I think we should be focusing a tinsy bit more on making Americans themselves recover some of their previous reputation for austerity.
Oh, I forgot – President Obama is already on it.
