A Monument To Me
July 8th, 2009This is but one solitary reason, among zillions, why Porkulous was doomed to failure from prehistory.
Upon receipt of the untraceable government (i.e. taxpayer) largesse, Gov. Deval Patrick (D-MA) quickly splurged $70,000 of “stimulus” money on highway signs commemorating the stimulus itself.
Just what the people of Massachusetts have been waiting for!
Clearly overjoyed with this wondrous idea, Patrick then spent an additional $15,000 of State funds on similar signs that had one extra addition.
Can you guess what that was?
Yep. His very own, beautiful name.
This, of course, also provides Patrick with free advertising for his imminent re-election campaign.
It gets better: Patrick’s predecessor, Mitt Romney, had previously banned taxpayer-funded vanity signage in 2003. Are you taking note, MA voters?
Do you recall the gold statue that Turkmenistan’s former ruler (and abhorrent despot) Saparmurat Niyazov had erected in dedication to himself? It rotated 360 degrees every 24 hours – I kid you not – so as to always face the Sun.
How long before Patrick decides he wants something similar?
Scratch that: how long before Barry wants one?
