Track-A-’Crat: The Roll Call of Democratic Delinquency

It’s just about confirmed: Al Franken is now Senator Al Franken.

Thus does he join the ranks of those entirely unsuited to high office, whether defective through intelligence, character, criminality, having killed someone, lying about everything under the sun or just about any other infringement of decent behavior imaginable.

Seriously.  I doubt that there’s anything we could come up with that some Democrat or another has not done.

So, welcome, Al.  For those people and countries around the world who love nothing more than watching the democracies cripple themselves, today is right up there with the best of ‘em.

In memory of the 1953 rebellion in East Germany, poet Bertolt Brecht wrote The Solution, which includes the lines:

Stating that the people

Had forfeited the confidence of the government

And could win it back only

By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier

In that case for the government

To dissolve the people

And elect another?

Right now, after news that Al Franken has won election to the Senate, I’m thinking that the people should be dissolved.

Why do people vote for obscene candidates whose only firm belief is in nothing?

We’re edging closer to the filibuster-proof Senate and the End Times.

It’s bad enough that celebrities/entertainers/screen puppets chime in on political events as often as they do already, without taking it a step further and actually running for office.

Look, Alec, Tim, Sean, Kanye et al, I love your movies.  Or your music.  And sometimes (but not very often) whatever else you may fancy yourself supremely talented at.

But not your politics.  You’re well aware that you can reach far more people than most politicians.  And that, unlike with politicians, their default mode for you is adoration.  You abuse that advantage by spouting ill formed nonsense.  Like this.

I don’t barge into your homes and tell you how to properly act/sing/take drugs/beat up women.  So pleaseeeee do likewise.  Looks like Al is already getting the hang of things, though.
