    Mea Maxima Culpa

    Two apologies this morning, guys.

One to those of you kind enough to visit my blog for not posting so frequently during the last week – normal service will resume shortly.

And the other to my co-blogger, HotMES.  See, I met up with HotMES, her brother and two friends yesterday lunchtime (at Chef Geoff’s), then again yesterday evening (at DC Improv, a comedy club).  While it was great to do something different, please do not, ever, go to see the “comedian” Robert Schimmel.  Don’t be fooled by his admittedly cool website – the guy sucks.  Really badly.  His routine started off with some jokes about his kids (surely that type of material comes towards the end, when some time just needs to be filled?) then moved onto his only other topic of humor – nothing but graphic sexual jokes followed for the ensuing 25 minutes that we stayed.

After which, my plan was to go home but the others’ plan was to go to a bar (or, more likely, lots of ‘em).  I’m going to preface what I did by saying that HotMES and her brother are drinking machines.  After going large on Friday night (them, not me – my Friday evening was spent at home), I met them Saturday lunchtime, during which time I had three pints of lager, and they had at least double that.  Before they went to another bar where shots came into play.  Pre-gaming at HotMES’ place was next, then DC Improv and a table full of shots.  I’m sure that the pattern here is evident.  After the disappointment that was Robert Schimmel, my choice was to go or stay, except it was made clear that going wasn’t an option.  Mucho alcohol beckoned.  My fight or flight instinct kicked in.

So, I, er, ran away.  Quite literally.  While HotMES and her brother lagged behind on the walk to the bar, conspiring I’m sure about how they were going to make us drink, I saw the opportunity to make a break for freedom by jumping in a cab and seized it.

The voicemail and email reprimands since received reveal that HotMES was not best pleased.  Plus, even worse, she didn’t express anger so much as disappointment, which wily females know is the surest way to make a guy feel bad.  Not that I shouldn’t feel a little bad for fleeing, of course.

After my wife and my mother (and skiri’ki, judging by her comments), HotMES is probably the woman I least want to p*ss off.  HotMES, I’ll make it up to you!

PS – I did tell you that I was going to leg it, though.

PPS – I’ve not edited or deleted a single comment yet, but I’m not looking forward to any contributions that HotMES might make to this post…

Haha, sounds like fun. Hope you took a lot of aspirin before passing out.

Well, Track did warn me that when he doesn’t want to get into trouble he takes off. It’s cool, because I have a history of doing this myself. Not in a blatantly rude way, as he did, but still.

And, Track, my brother and I have a beer in hand, now. At some point, you’re going to have to loosen your panties and have a good time. We were just trying to bring you to that point.

Funny–but I kind of pictured you as the type of guy to attend Saturday evening chess club meetings.

      {not!}

I had friends like that in college. They mean well, but when that’s not your thing (at least not at that moment)…

I see the ‘Track’ in Track-A-’Crat has multiple meanings; keeping tabs on Democrats and sprinting away from a binge drinking fest.

      It’s good to be versatile!

Sounds like loads-of-fun, if I were 20 years younger we could have crossed paths, unfortunately my Saturday was spent at a nearby Arts and Crafts show selling my hand made Peace Pipes. Seems like my biggest customers are those in the younger crowd—think I know what they will be smoking in them, Oh well their money spends just as good an any. Great to have you back.

Track … really not a WHOLE lotta shame in doing what we once called the “LeScram.”

King Shamus – thankfully, I’d only had a few beers (and avoided all the shots), so all’s been good today.

SNK – chess is Tuesday evening, followed by choir on Wednesday.

Matt – exactly. It’s cool when the time’s right, but the stars were not aligned for last night.

Steve – that’s one of the lesser known rationales behind the name…

Ron – one of the many things I love about the States is how unpredictable people are over here. Seems to me that everyone has some kind of interesting skill/hobby/interest. I wish I had more (any) ability to craft things with my hands, as you do.

Brian – welcome (have you left a comment here before?)! Love the name, “LeScram” makes it sound far more honorable than it really is.

‘Trac, you poor soul. You never have to worry about angering me, only a$$holes have to worry. ;D I understand completely about having to be in the mood for that much alcohol. If you’re not, the next day hangover will never let you rest. That’s why I did all my bingeing in college and got it over with. lol!

      So…you did a Meghan McCain…seriously, I don’t think any less of you for it. I can’t empathize because I don’t get hangovers.

Track, I think we broker the machine. This isn’t a hangover, this is a painful death. You know it’s bad when you can’t sleep through it. Saturday was a bad idea, yesterday was an even worse idea.

Ya know, you mislead me with that pic. I thought it would be followed by a scathing commentary about Obama’s latest protocol disaster in Japan.

And it’s only about your binge drinking escapades.

Which are, admittedly, so much more fun than saying anything about P.BO.
