Managed Democracy

One of my colleagues thoughtfully brought me back this souvenir from his trip to vote for Creigh Deeds (loser!) in the recent Virginia gubernatorial election.
The public autopsies performed on Deeds’ lackluster campaign have been comprehensive, but that’s no reason not to exhume the cadaver and prod it some more.
This particular error ranks far down the index of Deeds’ brainfarts (if his painful confusion surrounding issues of taxation scored a 10, then this is more like a 2), but it’s revealing about his run as a whole, nonetheless.
Because the carelessness of the candidate in his own preparation was reflected by his team in their meticulously proof-read “Deomcratic Sample Ballot.”
I know that these election crib sheets are popular, but c’mon. If you cannot figure out how not to invalidate your own ballot, then your vote rightfully won’t count. And if you haven’t bothered to work out for whom to cast your vote, then you shouldn’t be able to rely on some cheat sheet for direction.
As far as guarantees of minimal brain activity go, it ain’t exactly setting the bar high.
Or maybe this was a tactic of the Democrat strategists to expose their candidate’s common touch? The ability to read and write proficiently, after all, is a hallmark of elitism and inequality. And it’s not the first time that this administration has eschewed the diktats of traditional spelling: remember this? And this?
But that’s just the Democrats, the party of clever.

One need only look at popular TV to see the folks who vote along party lines with Obama. Watching Jay Leno pose questions to people on the street gives me an opportunity to see Obama voters first-hand!

Should the demoncrats get their next big agenda, the legalization of illegal immagrants, most of whom can’t read or write in Spanish and they get the right to vote will this be the “instruction” they’ll be given? I know government can corruption tend to go together, but now they’re not even trying to hide it anymore.

As Ann Coulter said about Al Gore during the Florida recounts, “This is what happens when you demagogue to the stupid.”
I dunno. Maybe the guy who made the ballot was trying to express his undying love for entire Ronnie James Dio canon, but dinged up the spelling. I know “Rainbow In the Dark” is a perfect metaphor for Deomcratic politics.
