A History Of Stupid

Just about top of my “Reasons Why Politicians Are Awesome” list is their habit of running for office claiming that they will be accountable to the electorate, only to swiftly decide once in power that they’ll in fact be accountable to no-one but themselves.
That never gets old.
And the prime personification of this – for today, at least – is Sen. Olympia Snowe, hiding in the photo above either from her constituents or from the sunlight that would cause her to burst into flames, you decide.
Having already voted for TARP, the largest legal fraud ever committed, Snowe is now doubling-down by voting for Barry’s state takeover and destruction of America’s thriving health care system.
I’m all for bucking party lines, but in the exact opposite way to this. If what the nominally conservative party decides to do is not conservative (as it very often hasn’t been in recent years), then please do a reverse-Snowe. If, however, you decide that pretending to be a conservative was only a ploy to win office and that you’ll henceforth do your best impression of a statist, then please just go the whole hog, à la Arlen Specter.
Of our pathetic choice of parties, one occasionally (and very erratically) pays tribute to some long-held principles, while the other follows nothing but the creed of redistribution. The only thing worse than either of these is someone like Snowe, who knows a little of each but not enough of either.
Only when these cretins sign up for the same health care plan that they’re trying to impose on us should they sign it.

Hey, I just wanted to let you know, Malkin is reporting a move against hamburgers. I don’t think I know anyone who would be more concerned about this than you. For more information on this breaking story: http://michellemalkin.com/2009/10/13/big-nanny-alert-the-war-on-hamburgers/.

Senate Finance Committee Passes Baucus Plan 14-9 With Snowe on Board…
The Senate Finance Committee voted today on the Baucus Plan for healthcare reform. It passed 14-9 and will now move on to a conference committee where it will be merged by the Democratic leadership with the Health Committee’s plan before being m…

The biggest entry underneath the heading “History of Stupid” is the entry concerning Americans who keep voting the morons of either party into office. The Dems never call me for support. The Repubs are learning not to.

HotMES – that is such potentially devastating news to me that, in the best Left-wing tradition, I’m just going to completely ignore it. No-one’s gonna take my freedom of speech nor my cheeseburgers away.
Arby – I find myself more and more in agreement with you. I vote for whatever is the closest approximation of a conservative, though that’s not saying much nowadays.

Arby nailed it. Until we stop voting these blood-sucking vampires into office, they’ll keep ripping open our veins.

Well, the wicked witch of Maine has spoken. The Conservative Cloakroom has proposed donating webspace to any legit opponent if Snowe. I will follow suit. Time for her to join the ranks of the unemployed.

We need to be able to recall these people. Living with these lying bastards for 6 years is absurd when they Completely Disregard Their Promised Voting Platform Once They Are in Office.
Governors can be recalled; there is no reason why thee bastards should be immune. They can do a lot more damage than any governor.

I agree, Snowe should go to the dark side with Specter. We can always count on her to vote with the Dems.
Voting these RINOs out of office is the only answer. We need good, conservative candidates to run against them in the primaries. We have a great one in FL named, Marco Rubio. He’s running against RINO Gov. Charlie Crist for U.S. Senate.

Matt – let’s hope she get turfed out unceremoniously.
Kid – agreed. The stability allowed by six years is nice in theory but can be horrible in practice, which is the truer measure.
TCL – how’s Rubio doing? I’ve not been following events in FL much.

Crist has the money, but Rubio is winning the straw polls.
The FL Rep party jumped out front to back Crist, but the grassroots are all for Rubio. He is traveling around the state making his presence known. I think as more people see the difference between him and Crist, he will gain more and more support.
I have several Rubio videos in the sidebar of my blog for people to check him out.
Thanks for asking.
