Roman Polanski

Has finally been arrested, in connection with a 1978 arrest warrant issued in America, which itself relates to a 1977 case in which he pleaded guilty to having sex with a 13-year-old girl.
Scumbag.
Why’d it take so long? Could we not have renditioned, then water-boarded, his a*s long before now?
Plus, Roman, your movies are cr*p. Like, all of them. And not even passable-entertainment-cr*p, we’re talking M. Night Shyamalan levels of pretension and boll*cks here.
So don’t use that whole artistic-genius-thing as a defense for raping a kid, because it’s even more stupid than it sounds.
Oh God, I’m still drunk from last night. I don’t drink much anymore because (a) I have a hot wife, thus negating the need to get hammered and hit on other chicks and (b) I’ve become terrified of hangovers, such as the one that’s approaching (I’ve deduced that I’m not yet sober this morning because I’m not feeling any pain and I can’t do anything that requires balance).
So it’s a good thing that I’m heading to a pig roast in VA hosted by The Other McCain in a couple hours time, (where there’ll be a firearms demonstration – awesome!), then a leaving party for a friend back here in DC.
The hangover cometh…
UPDATE: Indentured Servant Girl (great name!) has rightfully pointed out the exception to the rule, a not bad acceptable great Roman Polanski flick – Chinatown. But the others all suck. The only director that immediately springs to mind as having an even worse batting average than Polanski is Woody Allen. Is he a hypnotist? How does he keep on convincing studios to let him make movies? He allegedly made a decent movie decades ago, but it’s such an outlandish rumor that I can’t believe it (and there’s nothing on God’s green Earth that could make me go and watch any of his movies in an effort to prove it).

I know what you mean Track, being 33 for means that hangovers are 10 times as harsh as I was say, 23.Remember the days when you could party like crazy and then wake up early the next day and feel ok? Anyway, take some pics at the pig-roast. I am jealous!

The older you get, the harder it is to recover. Trust me. After 30, it became harder & harder to go get less-than-sober and not feel like Death in the morning. In the 6 years my wife and I have been together, she’s seen me toasty only once. Of course all those experiences in the Army left me with what *used* to be a high tolerance for alcohol, but now I’m just a lot more judicious in what I imbibe. Having a wife still under 30 when I just turned 40 helps keep me youngish though.
Polanski is a dirtball. And yes, his films are crap. So are Woody Allen’s. And yes, M-Night-Smama-lama-ding-dong’s work is pretty crap too at times.

Lots and lots of water dear Track. I’m an old hand at this and the key is to keep yourself hydrated.
Couldn’t agree with you more on Polanski. Everytime he’s been “honored” by this group or that I could feel my blood boil.

Agreed on the lots of water.
Polanski is scum. If he ever gets to a prison, well….

It gets worse, believe me. But a pig roast, you lucky chap, on a Sunday, too – luxury! If that doesn’t cure you, (along with some more alcohol, of course), nothing will!

Hair of the dog worked for me, till I was about 35. No amount of water, booze, aspirin, food, or anything else worked after that. I’m either allergic to making an ass of myself in front of people, or my ‘tolerance’ went away. Doesn’t matter, I quit drinking several years ago & haven’t had a hangover since. It’s a MIRACLE!
Polanski is scum. Always has been. “Artist” is a term that means “I can do whatever I please and get people to pay me for it.” The guy is a pig, and I remember that first warrant and his cowardly ass leaving the country. No loss whatsoever.

I’ve seen maybe one Polanski movie that I thought was ok. But since I can’t remember the one I did think was ok I guess that demonstrates how much of an artist I find him.
Along with LOTS of water eat a substantial amount of food if you can. It will help the recovery.

I don’t understand why someone who drugged and raped a 13 year old girl has been feted in France and adopted as a cause celebre.
I cannot comment on the drink thing, as I am too bladdered right now.

I agree, the man is a pig…and I hope he dies in jail…but he did make one movie that wasn’t awful…one…and that was Chinatown.
Then again…the screenplay for that was so awesome, it was director proof, so who knows.

Being 49 gives me a lot more experience with hangovers guys.
Things to avoid: cheap wines & champains- guaranteed hangover. Beer can do the same, but mostly overindulgence will give you the shits. Hard liquor varies: I’ve never had a serious hangover from gin, even the cheaper stuff-consequently it is my adult beverage of choice. Some is true with vodka I hear-but I’m less of an expert there.
Oh yeah, Polanski needs to face up to what he did, no matter how much time has passed.
Also, I’m glad to hear that the Swiss have finally grown a pair, instead of just always thinking about themselves and their glorious Canton Helvetica.

Track, you think hangovers are tough in your thirties you ought to try them in your sixties. For that matter, you ought to have tried them in THE sixties.
That era of permissiveness coupled with my membership in Uncle Sam’s Flying Club (The USAF) led to some interesting Sunday Mornings. (Who the hell remembered the Friday and Saturday nights?)
In SAC (Strategic Air Command) we used to lampoon the other commands; the rule in MAC and TAC was “no drinking 24 hours before a mission and no smoking within 100 feet of the aircraft”. the SAC motto was “no smoking 24 hours before a mission and no drinking within 100 feet of the aircraft”.
Oh, and for the record, I hope Polanski gets 5-10 in the Q rooming with a huge individual of African-American heritage (actually, it doesn’t matter) who doesn’t have any sustaining moral principles nor any predilection towards exclusively b*ggering females.

Manson follower Susan Atkins who had killed Roman Polanski’s wife, Sharon Tate died a couple of days ago and now this announced arrest of Roman Polanski.
What I can’t understand is, how did Polanski manage to evade the law all these years with the so called technology of cameras and GPS, etc. There is just NO way that one can hide from the law with all of technology that is out there.
Something is just screwy here. I think the authorities DID know where he was hiding all these years. And one has to question as to why did they decide to arrest him NOW and not arrest him from years ago? Not to mention that this is going to cost taxpayers money for a trial that will drag on for years.
This is another example of how there is no such thing as “justice” in the justice system in the USA. Criminals go free while the innocent and victims get sent to prison.

My 17 year old saw the Polanski coverage the other day and said, “So, OK, I can rape some kid, or kill someone, or whatever I want, and then go to France, and everything’ll be cool? Good to know.”

Wrinkled Weasel, Indentured Servant Girl, cb – welcome (plus points for using the word “bladdered” – I’ve not heard it in ages)! Your sites have been added to my blogroll.
chickenlittle – gin is my preferred drink, but I’ve found it to be a rough lover the next morning, even when not taken to excess and imbibing the good stuff.
j summ – think you must’ve broken countless man-codes by exposing the Lightning Man’s past like that, but I’m very glad that you did. I didn’t even pick up a gun yesterday – in my condition, it was enough for me to hear the sound of freedom ring out.

I’ve been thinking. Always dangerous. But what if the Swiss authorities have detained Polanski for another reason entirely. Rumor has it that ACORN is considering opening a European office and looking for a CEO.

Maybe they feel sorry for him?
His mom died in the Holocaust, his wife and baby got murdered by some crazies…and he didn’t have the sense to go to Thailand for his under age sick stuff…he got caught in America because he didn’t pay her off BEFORE she blabbed to the cops. Doh.

JC Crat, you tell me? How does Woody do it? Scarlet Johanasen is the latest on his list. Maybe it’s in his words? What is the power that they have, and what most men search for?
And the most important question, how do we get it?
September 28th, 2009 at 22:55
RayGun,
The power they have is they can say: “hey baby, I can make you a STAR”…and be credibly believed.
So, if you’re the kind of girl that wants that…you look past the fact that they are ugly old perverts and you “suck it up”…figuratively…and…as much as the thought disgusts me…literally.
(sorry for that visual)
