    Redistribution Fever

Some of us (but not us) thought that Barry, perhaps falling victim to his own campaign rhetoric, would govern from slightly left-of-center once in office, in an attempt to not immediately flip the bird at the middle-class that put him in power.

While others (us) suspected that he would instantaneously revert to type, as the temptation of using the Democrats’ stranglehold on power to enforce his Marxist nightmare quickly became too much to resist.

Kinda like this kid’s complete inability to not eat everything in sight.

I’m not sure which is worse, though: a small-steps socialist agenda that carefully and patiently erodes the foundations of innovation and independence, or a big-bang explosion of ready-made socialism.

The small-steps process has been pioneered in the United Kingdom during the last 12 years, and it’s been remarkably successful in neutering opposition through its prudent approach.

So, part of me is glad, despite the short-term pain, that Barry has given in to his deepest, darkest (is that racialist?  I actually tried not to use the word “color” to a black guy the other day [when talking about my awesome blue/black/gray socks, believe it or not] because the Left has done such a wonderful job of criminalizing language) desires.

CNS is reporting that he plans to redistribute $1 trillion per year (although the article then confusingly states $1 trillion by 2012 in the first paragraph – but I’m going to go with $1 trillion per year for dramatic effect) away from the top 30 percent to the bottom 70 percent.

Is it still accurate to call it the “bottom 70 percent”, though?  I don’t think so, CNS.  That’s a helluva big proportion for the supposed bottom of the heap.  Unless they’re doing their bit, alongside the administration, to convince the citizenry that unless you’re in the top bracket of earners, you are relatively poor and thus entitled to the fruit of other people’s work.

See as the Left’s always banging on about “fairness”, is it not fair, then, that those paying for the state should also be those running it?

And if we’re all equal members before the law of the same society, which we are, should we not all contribute towards it?

Or is that definition of fairness not sophisticated (read: deliberately misleading) enough?

I suspected – because I’m kinda pessimistic that way – that he would “revert” to his true self. I SO TRULY wanted to be wrong. Though I don’t think he’d ever gone against type, I believe he just said what he needed to say to get the vote, and I believe he’d have said ANYTHING that advanced that agenda.
