One-Track Mind

Amongst my many problems with the Left, their love of taxation is perhaps the most central one.
Not only because taxation is theft (which it is), but because it is a blackhole of a solution every single time.
Those on the Left never need to use their faculties when searching for policy proposals, because, in the end, they can all be reduced to one thing: additional taxation.
It punishes the successful, rewards the jealous and empowers the state, so there’s no downside, right?
The latest example from the United Kingdom is a potential $10 tax on every family with a phone line, which is virtually the same as levying a charge on all those families who have doors in their homes.
The Left can retort that the Right is equally narrow-minded in its primary solution to most problems: innovation and competition (by which I mean, of course, the private sector).
The difference between the respective fixations shouldn’t need elucidating but clearly does. When the government takes over a responsibility, the service is going to be provided late, over-budget, inefficient and marked by a lack of creativity. That is simply what bureaucrats do.
Whereas when the private sector assumes a task, all of those qualities will be severely diminished, if not eliminated altogether. Furthermore, normal people will be able to choose their own provider, instead of having a one-size-fits-all “option” rammed down their throats. Competition between such providers will reduce costs and increase quality, neither of which is ever a concern of government bodies.
Did Barry learn no economics at Columbia and Harvard? Or did he discard “conventional” economic theory, believing himself to be superior to the established titans of economic philosophy?
Economic illiteracy is the curse of modern politicians and contemporary electorates, with their ignorance reflecting infinitely in each other’s eyes.

Did Barry learn no economics at Columbia and Harvard?
We don’t really know what he studied, do we. Since he has steadfastly refused to release his transcripts.
Imagine if GW Bush had refused to do the same thing? The media would have been all over it from the get-go and he would never have made it to the Oval Office.
But Mr. Charisma, Mr. Style-Over-Substance won’t release a thing about his college years – and everyone still thinks he’s the smartest thing out there.

That’s because in business, the dollar is the bottom line. To make money, you need to be efficient, meet deadlines and have a product that sells. Not so with the government. All they need to do is wave their hand. And since they will not be using the same healthcare as us lowly peasants, then the end result doesn’t really matter much to them.

Kris – the “imagine if this had been done by us rather than Democrats” game is indeed a never-ending one. They’re allowed to be hypocrites, see?
skiri’ki – exactly. If the Dems would forfeit their own first-rate health-care in exchange for what they’d like to impose on the rest of us, at least we could then take some small consolation from the knowledge that they’d have to suffer under the same system as the rest of us.
Alas, we are ordinary people and they are not.

He really can’t help himself, being the head of the Demotaxic party.
