To burnish my credentials as a (somewhat) equal opportunity opponent of corrupt politicians no matter what their allegiance, I present to you Michael Duvall (R), who formerly represented Orange County, CA.
The clarity of the clip’s audio is not wonderful and, although there are subs, you’ll get a far more accurate impression of Duvall’s depthless douchebaggery from the transcript over at Hot Air.
Aside from the fact that a supposedly honest family man has been sleeping with two female lobbyists (which, while a routine feature of politics, is nevertheless not how most of the rest of us choose to behave), what I really love about this episode is that Duvall chooses to brag to a colleague while they’re in the middle of a committee meeting/hearing/something or other.
That’s the time that he chooses to inform his buddy of all the lurid details of his sordid escapades. While sitting in front of a live microphone.
Plus, he’s talking about it like it’s the first time that it’s ever happened to him.
Which, were it not for the fact that he has kids, I would say is probably true. How many spods do you know who were not popular in school, only to subsequently discover the almighty allure of politics in getting some tail?
Then, of course, how many said spods have humiliated themselves and further demeaned politics by concentrating on nothing but getting laid while in office? And it’s not just the morons in state legislatures who fall prey to this temptation.
For the sake of a few quick shags, Duvall has successfully shafted himself, his career and his family.
Loser doesn’t even begin to cover it.

“Family Values” California state assemblyman representing Orange County, Republican Michael D. Duvall, resigns for apparently not cheating on his wife. Well you have to take his word for it, or maybe believe that hypocrisy has been bred in. In my opinion the Republican Party has been taken over the most extreme religious right (people who love to push their beliefs on others while trying to take away rights of those they just hate) and that’s who they need to extract from their party if you real want to win. Good Luck, because as they said in WACO, “We Ain’t Coming Out”.

Paul: the difference to me is that we conservatives are as quick to condemn our own idiots as we are to criticize others.
Whereas on the Left, it takes something almost unthinkable to happen before other members break their solidarity with each other. Hello, John Edwards – his colleagues have said nary a word about what a scumbag he is. Van Jones? According to the Left, he’s nothing but an innocent victim. Etc, etc.
And if you think that the Republican Party has been taken over by elements of the right, what about how the Democratic Party has been entirely captured by a cabal of fanatical and unapologetic far-Left communists?

But let’s get back to the real problem of political corruption, does anyone think this will get investigated and that things he voted on will need to be affirmed by the remaining members or will nothing happen? Do I hear Tammy Wynette, “Stand By Your Man” playing in the background? I remember not so long ago that other Orange County song favorite, “Stand By Your Tan” (for Tan Nguyen). But that’s another Orange County fool.
