PETA – No. 1 At Killing Animals!

Highbrow time, dear readers (well, slightly more highbrow than usual, anyway).  In The Merchant of Venice, Shakespeare wrote,

The man that hath no music in himself, nor is not moved with concord of sweet sounds, is fit for treasons, stratagems, and spoils. The motions of his spirit are dull as night, and his affections dark as Erebus. Let no such man be trusted.”

Which was his way of saying be very wary of anyone who doesn’t like music.  Good call.  I would extend it to include distrusting anyone who doesn’t like animals.  How can you not love furry things with four-legs (well, the good ones all have four legs)?

But one should also be cautious around those who claim to love animals more than human beings.

    Enter PETA.

PETA bullied more than $34 million into its own coffers last year.  By the way, not that facts have much relevance these days, but PETA has killed 21,339 adoptable dogs, cats, puppies, and kittens since 1998.

And while last year was spectacularly successful for them in terms of exploitation of donations, it wasn’t quite so good for all the lil’ furballs in their “care” – in the whole of 2008, PETA found homes for a mighty 7 pets.

Out of the 2,216 animals it took in.

PETA has no interest in saving animals.  It is only interested in haranguing us about what we eat, drink, fish, hunt, wear and use for medical research.  It is simply another organization that wants to take away our choice by imposing its own on us.  Much like the Obama administration.

Please go here and join the 171,557 (including moi) who have signed the petition to remove PETA’s tax-exempt (i.e. taxpayer subsidized) status.

look here, two wrongs dont make a right okay. just because we are nasty to our fellow human beings doesn’t mean that we also ought to be nasty to animals. humanity’s track record as far as our furry friends are concerned isn’t exactly up to par. the ever expanding eyes and look of shock on an animal’s face when you slaughter it may just make you lose your lunch since it is a pukeworthy scene. and, no, being a vegetarian does make a difference for plants are different from animals. animals seem to be caught in the same trap as humans and we think we have the upper hand whereas we actually don’t.

Well it just figures that a liberal organization would be hypocritical of it actions. Myself as a member of PETA (People eating tasty animals) find your info on this subject very interesting and thanks for posting it.

My name is now on it, and it has been passed on to others who will place their name on it as well, and who also pass it on… You get the idea. Thank you for the link.

On an off note, a mobile screensaver I had created (and which had netted me ~$36.00) was recently removed from the website of a rather large mobile phone company, with a note to me that it was flagged as “inappropriate”. I am no artist, but I was rather stymied at the huge surge of tree-hugging screensavers which had appeared on their website, and I figured that I wasn’t the only person to find myself irritated, so I created my own. It merely said “CARNIVORE” on one screen (it alternated between two screens), written on red against a black background, and on the second screen there was a drawn picture of open, sharp teeth with a big-eyed cow in the middle. No blood or gore of even a frown on the cow. Yet it was removed.

Ah well, at least I have the satisfaction of knowing that there are people out there with that flashing on their mobile phones (and that I was able to net a small bit of cash in the process).
