Ain’t the world just a funny place?
After writing about Helen Thomas (which has not left me unaffected, readers) in a less than complimentary manner last week, she now goes and does something not entirely brainless for the first time in living memory.
Alongside Chip Reid, she double-teams Robert Gibbs over the administration’s habit of fixing supposedly spontaneous townhall meetings.
Watch Gibbs squirm -- this is a man who, very soon, will face nothing but enemies at the daily White House press briefings. His behavior is puerile and condescending, his “answers” are openly contemptuous of the reporters there and his denial of that which everyone else in the room recognizes is ludicrous -- Obama doesn’t stuff public meetings with supporters and prepared questions, so how dare you suggest it!
Remember how the press corp was laughing at Gibbs last week?
Well it’s only going to get worse for Gormless Gibss.

Heh, gormless is a good word, isn’t it, kireina (and Gibbs is indeed smarm incarnate)?
Like you say, its meaning is somehow portrayed by the way it sounds, even if one hasn’t heard it before.

Gibbs is consumed by worms; cut him open and invite all of the fisherman in your neighborhood to come over and scoop up the wriggling, escaping, slimy night crawlers. Bury him in your garden and, as he decomposes, your soil is aerated for life.
Watching these guys (the Obama administration) fall from grace with the public (cf. today’s job and employment numbers) and the press (when some discover they can build a Woodward-and-Bernstein on a “Kings New Clothes” series about their formerly beloved Job-Trainee-in-Chief) will be delicious in the extreme.
Ah! The pleasures of schadenfreude!

Wacko Jacko? for once, J-, consider yourself lucky that you live inside the Beltway. You are spared the incessant mewling over this cretin’s tread to eternity. Out here in Lotus Land, they are going to have a public memorial service in the Staples’ Center fer crissakes!
What’s next? Flags at half staff? A month of mourning for “The Greatest Entertainer of the Century”?

Would that his boss follow him. There are many that speculate Obama’s tenure will be cut short by unexplained health reasons when all this begins to unravel.

..it is not anything but gross speculation, but several blogs I have frequented maintain that the TOTUS will wilt under pressure and there will be an invention of some excuse to usher him (kicking and screaming) from the stage.
Sadly, it is just gross conspiracy theory at the moment, but given this man’s track record of not holding down any serious work, of being grossly incompetent, or not being challenged by the press and public, one surmises that the kitchen will be left when the heat becomes intolerable.
And I keep harping on the Woodward-and-Bernstein aspect of the MSM “turning on him” but I really believe in that model. There is such a vacuum being built up between fantasy and reality and the MSM is falling on such hard times that the prospect of a “new wave” of hit pieces seems inevitable.

I dunno… I think Obama has surrounded himself with visual idiots in order to make himself appear uber intelligent to the world. He does have real talent working for him behind the scenes, however, who will keep him groomed, ego-brushed, and will keep the press fawning for his attention. Makes Slick Willy look like a rank amateur!
