Three In A Row!

The Democrats have made history again. They just can’t help it.
Salvatore F. DiMasi resigned as speaker of the Massachusetts House in January and was indicted yesterday by a federal grand jury on fraud and conspiracy charges.
The distinction he earns for this is all the higher, given that he’s the third consecutive Massachusetts House speaker to have criminal charges filed against him. The previous two, Thomas M. Finneran, and Charles F. Flaherty (both of whom were fellow Democrats), pleaded guilty.
So one criminal was replaced by another, who was replaced by another. Methinks a trend is discernible.
If politics were subject to the rules of the normal world, then Massachusetts voters might perhaps learn from this and elect someone from a different party.
But, seeing as politics in the US has become more sectarian than ever before, that ain’t gonna happen.
If, in the imminent future, a fourth consecutive speaker is indicted, then I reckon MA has forfeited its self-rule and should come under the personal jurisdiction of Herman Thomas himself.
Just imagine the possibilities.
