Feel The Power!

Arnie is awesome, let’s just get that outta the way from the start.
He overcame tragedies in his personal life at an early age, emigrated to the US, won Mr. Universe, became a huge movie star, married into the Kennedy dynasty and took office as the 38th governor of California.
Not bad.
Californians have rejected five of six propositions aimed at, ahem, “ameliorating” California’s budget crisis. The only one that did pass – proving that people do sometimes pay attention to what they’re voting on – freezes pay raises for legislators when CA’s running a deficit.
Which is precisely the opposite of what the crooks in Congress recently did, having awarded themselves a generous pay rise for this year. As if the gulf between politicians and real people was not already large enough.
California is screwed because it has spent wildly and recklessly. The budget gap now stands at $42 billion. Aside from pretending that nothing is wrong (always a favored “solution” in politics), the only option left is to make budget cuts. Deep ones.
Is there a lesson in this for President Obama and the rubber-stamp Congress?
You’d think so, wouldn’t you?

These propositions were fraudulent, were backed by some big money, and had benefit of some deceptive contribution shell games played and yet they were still defeated.
People out here in California despise the Republican “machine” almost as much as they despise Democrats. They most certainly think Ah-nold is a gutless girlie-man.
Ironically, in proposing the cuts that these propositions’ defeat now mandates, he might just grow a pair and recover some of whatever shred of integrity he had remaining.
