    Too Little Too Late

The Federal Election Commission today dismissed a complaint over the designer clothes purchased by the Republican Party to outfit Sarah Palin.

This entirely superfluous case was brought by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, an organization that should now be humiliated into extinction.

Needless to say, but the group’s name is acronymized into CREW.  Couldn’t you just see that coming?

Why is it that every brain-dead body like this has a “cool” acronym?  Do those who run them exhaust their entire (limited) intellectual capital in thinking up a name and then that’s it?

So, the FEC has helpfully clarified that candidates are not supposed to use donor money for personal expenses.  No sh*t.

I wonder if paying your mistress hush money from donations to your presidential campaign would count as a “personal expense?”

Or how about the millions of $ that then-Senator Obama received in illegal foreign donations to his presidential campaign?

Or are those questions not important enough for the FEC to investigate?

On acronyms – it’s probably a blessing in disguise that they do have these snappy acronyms. Otherwise you get either a) the mouthfuls of unpronouncable letters the government comes up with, or b) not very well thought out acronyms like FEC, because if you say it as a word, it sounds like an Irishman cussing.
