    Democracy’s Best Day (Potentially)

My posts have been increasingly pessimistic of late with regard to the fate of democracy.

But there has finally been a glimmer of good news from across the pond.

UK politicians are currently embroiled in just about the worst corruption scandal to ever afflict the country.  The various scandals themselves are actually quite pathetic, but it is the extent and depth of public rage that makes the crisis as dangerous as it is.

Politicians are scrambling to react, but nothing they can do will restore public faith – they are only repenting after having been caught red-handed.

The Daily Mail, though, has an initiative that would instantly repair some of the damage: it is launching a campaign to prosecute corrupt politicians.

It is no exaggeration to state that something this drastic is needed.

Believe it or not, the UK is run so ineptly that its prisons are currently operating at 11 per cent over their maximum capacity.  If we’re going to start prosecuting sleazy politicians, then we’re going to need more jails.

Not good enough, no MP should be standing in the next election, nor should they be rewarded in any other way if they have had their greedy snouts in the trough.
THEY GOT CAUGHT ANYONE ELSE WOULD BE PROSECUTED FOR FRAUD.
This especially goes for Jackie Smith who, I have been told on good authority, is going to be heave hoed to the Lords. This is especially disturbing as it is elevating someone with little acumen and with dubious pastimes.
