“Heroes” Is Such A Subjective Term

Marxist ideology dictates that state institutions (the police, the army, the judiciary, etc) are all tools of oppression used by the bourgeoisie in order to restrict opposition and perpetuate their rule.
President Obama, true to form, has taken this lesson to heart. The defense budget has been cut. The next Supreme Court appointee will not be an irrefutably qualified candidate, but an “empathetic” one (a deliberately vague term that can mean anything). And now comes the attack against the police.
Not that the MSM is reporting anything – they’re too busy focusing on real stories like the president and VP going for a burger.
When they should have been reporting the president’s proposed budget cuts to the Public Safety Officers Death Benefits Program.
The president wants to slash $50 million from the program, reducing its funding from $110 million to $60 million. Well, room’s gotta be made for all the bailouts and welfare state spending somehow.
If it just so happens that defense spending falls, police budgets decline and supervision of trade unions diminishes, then that’s just too bad.
According to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, there were 133 police officers killed in the line of duty last year, the lowest figure since 1960. That number, hopefully, will be lower still this year.
Are there really no other government programs more deserving of cuts or, better yet, abolition? Really?
