I’m shocked, in a good way. Had the Right proposed this, of course, accusations of fascism/militarism/racism/anti-environmentalism would have appeared faster than the speed of light.
This is a sign of sheer desperation from the Left. The public school system in the UK is as moribund as the NHS and the country itself (but, please, America, don’t learn from our example, you just go right ahead with more state-run education and healthcare).
Although it does have one sly implication, for which Left-wingers will rejoice: if the military is preoccupied enough with the UK school system – and, believe me, the Middle East is a doddle by comparison – then they won’t be able to fight any wars.
An end to imperialist-capitalist-Western oppression at last!
