    Criminality Is No Obstacle

Now I know where I went wrong in life.

Attending the University of Oxford and The Johns Hopkins University SAIS was not enough (before you say it, yes, I could be lying.  But I’m not.  What’s wrong with blowing your own trumpet once in a while?).

What would really have made me would have been becoming a drug addict, beating my girlfriend, abusing a position of authority, cheating on my terminally-ill wife, committing 137 corruption crimes, being really stupid, having absolutely no principles at all, taking bribes, not paying my taxes or even killing someone.

(If you manage to follow all of the above links, then please get in touch with me, as I have a prize for you.)

There is, apparently, nothing that those in charge like better than promoting “reformed” characters, giving people of malicious intent and criminal behavior repeated chances that they do not deserve.

Ronald Sims is a welcome addition to the above.  He’s in good company.

He’s been confirmed as deputy secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, despite his office (when he served as King County executive) being slapped with the largest fine in US history for “blatant violations” of open records laws.

He was criminally irresponsible with a county budget, which clearly qualifies him to now be entrusted with a federal budget.

Coming next: President Obama decides to skip the middleman and recruit government officials directly from prison.
