    The Obamaprinzip

I’m reluctant to draw parallels between the current POTUS and monstrous tyrants of the past, as – the possibility of Obama being a decent human being aside – it demeans history and trivializes truly evil people and their atrocities.

That being said, though, there are undoubtedly a few areas of overlap.

One is the cult of personality that always accompanies dictators and focuses overwhelming attention on the leader’s projected character, to the exclusion of all else.

Whereas the media normally resists this development and has to be coerced into compliance, today is unusual in that the MSM’s group-think has led it to unquestioningly accept that everything Obama says/does/touches is tantamount to perfect.

The other is the problem that comes with having an incredibly broad but vague plan of action.  Such was the case in Nazi Germany, where Hitler’s underlings had little idea of the Fuhrer’s precise aims.  This was partly dileberate and partly inevitably, as one man cannot take every decision of import.

So, to get around this, the Nazis would justify setting in motion their own agendas by claiming that they were working towards the Fuhrer – the Führerprinzip. In the absence of leadership, minions furthered the policies they wanted to advance.

This is happening with President Obama.  He has an infinite supply of platitudes and personal anecdotes, but negligible deeper knowledge of any specific policy area.  This, combined with the fact that barely anyone is further to the Left than he is, enables the rest of the Democratic Party to charge wildly after their personal crusades.

The result, as we are witnessing, is an avalanche of pronouncements on every conceivable issue with seemingly no coherence.

Except that if there is already a policy in place for a given issue (and particularly if it was enacted by the devious Republicans), then it must by default be wrong.
