    Less Is More

Barack Obama makes Elton John look positively miserly.

Having spent more money in less than three months than anyone else in existence ever (some points cannot be made strongly enough), Obama still claims to be, at heart, fiscally responsible.

    He is the consummate politician.

While stating one thing, he does the opposite and people still believe his words rather than their own eyes and ears.

The latest, and most extreme, example of this is to be found in his government spending plans.

Obama has already spent trillions of dollars.

He has now promised $100 million in budget cuts.

The difference between the two sums is like the difference between being bitten by an ant and a lion.

Unfortunately, I’m not not so skilled at lying through my teeth.  The last time I was completely hammered, I instead claimed to be entirely sober.

My friends saw through that boast – why can they not see through this one?

Bush spent 21 Trillion over 8 years with a total of 17 Trillion coming in. For all the math majors out there, that’s a $4 trillion deficit.

Although Obama has put up nearly 2.5 Trillion at this point, as we should all be aware, we do not know what deficit he’ll have. Your rants and raves about spending don’t go on deaf ears, but your point is misleading and you know it.

In Obama’s defense, he has at least attempted to invest it back in the economy rather than in the military. we can argue all day about this but I thought I’d mention it to stir the pot a bit.

Obama walked into the presidency hurting from the recession and is doing what he thinks best to resolve it. You may disagree, as half the country did while Bush was working, but foolhardy to imply that any other answer offered would be without consequences…

      TB,

My point is not misleading and your math is not accurate.

Obama has spent $0.5 trillion with the omnibus spending bill, $1 trillion with Porkulus and $3.5 trillion for the annual federal budget.

That’s $5 trillion in spending that we know about. As for the unseen costs, who knows how many trillions that amounts to?

There is some veracity to what you say about the spending of the Bush administration. That, too, was bloated and obscene. I disagree with that level of government spending as much as I do with this – it is too much.

As I’m sure you know, US administrations have just about never been free of national debt.

Bush, however, left a deficit of $400 billion when he turned over to Obama. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office now estimates that Obama will increase the deficit to $1.8 trillion this year, quadrupling the sum he inherited.

Bush spent far too much and Obama is proving to be even worse.

Do you not think that the federal budget is large enough already?
