The Essence Of Discretion

Unlike most politicians, DC Mayor Adrian Fenty’s not a bad looking dude. I had to search for an extra two whole minutes to find a photo that wasn’t so flattering.
But I won. I got one. Everyone gets treated equally on this site.
Now on to what has gained Fenty a mention here. It’s a weird one.
A “surplus” DC firetruck and ambulance have been handed over to Ronald Moten, a former drug dealer, friend of the Mayor’s and head honcho of Peaceaholics (which has such an unbearably “hip” name that I’m not even going to bother finding out what it is for your sake).
Ron then passed them along to Sosua, a beach town in the Dominican Republic. Coincidentally, Deputy Fire Chief Ronald Gill Jr. went to Sosua on a six-day, taxpayer-funded trip from Jan. 29 to Feb. 4, earlier this year. The reason he cited? “Fire truck donation.”
Told ya it was bizarre.
Does any of this make any sense to you? If it does, please let me know because I’m still struggling to connect the dots. Perhaps it would help if I read this article a little more closely, but I’ve maxed out on reading today (having already hit the read-6-pages mark).
One thing I do know, however: if someone was trying to give me something that they really ougnt’nt be, I’d insist that it was a little more subtle than a firetruck. Like an envelope stuffed full of cash.

What about this picture with the mayor, and two constituents, as taken by Dr. Gunther von Hagens:
