You could be forgiven for thinking that front page articles on newspapers tend to be the most pressing news items of the day.
The banner for “Southland” that runs along the bottom of the LA Times front page is accompanied by another paid advertisement (the slim vertical column to the left, entitled “Southland’s Rookie Hero”). While appearing to be a feature story documenting the early days of a rookie cop, it is nothing more than a big, fat trick to make you tune into the show.
That’s one of the most embarrassing things I’ve ever read. How do you top that act of self-degradation?
The dead tree press has entered the humiliating final stage of terminal decline where it is powerless to prevent itself from defecating everywhere.
The end is never far behind.
