    As Important As Oxygen

The GA House yesterday voted against approving a resolution that sought to honor President Obama for being a politician with an “unimpeachable reputation for integrity, vision and passion.”

I’m sure glad to know that our elected representatives aren’t wasting their time dealing with any spurious matters.

Entirely predictably, State Rep. Keith Heard – a member of the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus – then implied that Republicans are racist, stating that the resolution’s failure “makes you wonder what exactly is going on in Georgia.”

Yawn.  Haven’t heard that one before.

Remind me again which party was formed to fight slavery?  And which saved the Union and passed the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments?  And which passed, in 1957, the first Civil Rights Act since 1875?  And which enforced desegregation of the military?  And which legislated and enforced desegregation of the school system?

It’s long past due that many Americans learned some history.

UPDATE: I’ve just read the remarks of GA State Rep. Al Williams, who commented that, “It drips with racism’” and “I call it like it is.”

    Don’t you just, Al.

That one train of thought barreling around your brain must get awfully lonely.
