Quid Pro Quo
Alright! My second post with a Latin title – uh-huhh, uh-huhh, uh-huhh…
Anyway, enough about me. Speaker Pelosi is in the news (again) for proposing that newspapers be given more freedom to merge, partly by expanding the definition of competition so as to include TV and the internet as direct competitors.
That way, newspaper consolidation would not constitute a monopoly or infringe upon anti-trust laws. Well, that’s my five-minutes-of-research analysis, anyway. Please feel free to correct/ridicule me.
While we’re at it, why not also redefine “state appropriation” so that it means “private enterprise?”
Or change the definition of “tax credits” to become “tax cuts?”
See? There’s lots of potential.
